I wasn’t aware of a connection between alcohol’s proof and how deep it chills until I came across this exchange on Twitter.  I’m guessing this effect has something to do (albeit counterintuitively) with the relationship between proof and freezing point?  In any case, it’s a good thing to keep in mind when making juleps.
